When was the last time you checked your credit? Was it 6 months ago? The last time you refinanced or purchased your home?
Well, just like getting an oil change or filing your taxes, you should be checking your credit report at regular periods.
- Your credit report may have errors
- Hacks, breaches, and ID Theft
Here’s when you should check your credit:
- In advance of a loan or big purchase
- Annually or every 4 months (each major reporting agency will give you a free copy of your credit report once a year – if you stagger your requests with a different bureau you will have a full survey of your activity over time!)
With these different periodic checks, you should feel confident that your credit is being watched and you’re protected! Interested in learning more? Read more here.
